Entry for Day 10 of The Happiness Project
3 things I’m grateful for:
- The awesome food I ate at two BBQs today.
- Spending time with two very good friends.
- That I’ve grown so much in the past two years.
You don’t know me. But, even though we’ve never met, we are connected.
Think of me when your heart is broken. When your spirit has been shattered. When you feel like every ounce of love and light you had has been ripped out of you. When you feel the cold chill of the gaping void left behind inside of you. When you feel alone and scared. When you’re shriveled and in a dark corner and can’t move because of the debilitating sadness you feel. Think of me.
Understand you are not alone. I am here to help you bear the burden of your pain. To absorb the emotional blow you’re taking. You don’t have to take it all on alone. Think of me and I will be there.
We may never know each other. Our eyes may never meet. We may never even step foot on the same continent. But you will feel my heart if you just reach out for me. If you call on me, I will send my love to you. You don’t have to be alone.
We are all connected. We may only know each other when we are in the deepest of despair. When we have reached the deepest depth of loneliness we can imagine. Know that it’s designed that way so that, in these moments, we may turn inward to find each other.
Find me and I will share my love with you, as you will with me when I need it. I will give you hope. I will restore your faith. Think of me and my love will help you heal.
You are not alone. We are all connected. And we are all here, to offer you love, during the moments when you need it most. Just call for us.
A friend of mine met a life coach while he was teaching abroad last year. She helped him get through a rough time dealing with being homesick. She got him to participate in a 21-day program called The Happiness Project.
We were talking one day about getting back to regularly practicing gratitude and carrying out acts of kindness. So we decided to start The Happiness Project ourselves.
The program lasts 21 days because they say that’s how long it takes to build a habit. THP is structured in a way that helps you build a set of healthy habits.
Basically every day, for the next 21 days, I’ll be keeping track of the following:
I love that this project will help me make it a point to do something for someone else, every day. It sounds like a lot but sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can make someone’s day in the biggest way.
I’m looking forward to this project. And to sharing this journey with you. Happy Happiness Project!
It’s amazing what 13 years can do for a country like Zambia. Take a look at how a foundation helped this country through the AIDS epidemic.
